2024 BMW X1

The BMW X1 is part of the subcompact luxury crossover class offered by BMW. The first generation was unveiled as a concept car at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, with production starting from 2009. The X1 was aimed at a wider range of customers due to its smaller size, increased efficiency and lower price tag.

The first generation E84 X1 was based on the E90 3 Series platform offering sDrive (RWD) as standard and xDrive (AWD) as optional. It was positioned as the smallest SUV in the BMW range, falling below the X3, with production taking place from 2009 until mid-2015 when it was replaced by the second generation, F48 X1. On the F48 X1, front wheel drive was now standard. The third and present generation U11 X1 was introduced in 2022, making use of the same platform as its predecessor.
