2017 BMW M4 Cabriolet (F82)

The BMW 4 Series resulted from a model line restructure. BMW decided to introduce the coupe and convertible body style of the 3 Series as a separate model line-up. In September 2013, BMW announced the BMW M4 set to replace the E92 M3. For the new car, BMW did away with the naturally aspirated V8 found in the E92 and replaced it with a 3.0L turbo charged I6 unit. This new engine was purposed built for the new M4.

In 2016 BMW announced a Competition Package for the M3 and M4. Power was increased by 14 kw to 331 kw with torque figures remaining the same at 550 nm which is transferred to the road via the standard M-DCT gearbox. This meant a 0-100 km/h time of 4 seconds for the coupe and 4.2 seconds for the cabriolet. The M4 equipped with Competition Package also included revised suspension that comprised of new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars to compliment the now standard Adaptive M Suspension. The software on the electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control was also tweaked to optimise the new hardware. The exterior of the M4 received Shadow Line trim which includes black kidney grills, side gills, exhaust tips and model badging. Finally, most notably, the M4 received a set of light wheels exclusive to the Competition Package.
