1982 Alfa Romeo GTV-6
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta or Type 116 is a sedan or fastback coupe that was produced between 1972 and 1987. It was noted for the rear position of its transaxle and its De Dion Tube rear suspension which was used to optimize weight distribution and handling. This layout earned it the name “Alfetta” which means “little Alfa” and was last used on a 1951 Alfa Romeo Formula 1 car that had the same transaxle technology.
The fastback coupe or Alfetta GT was based on the Alfetta saloon and designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. It was introduced in 1974. In 1980, the GT received a restyling. The Alfetta GTV became known as the Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 as many now know it. Later in the same year, the GTV 6 2.5, a version of the GTV with the SOHC V6 2.5 L engine from the Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 luxury saloon, was released. To accommodate the top intake, the hood received a bulge to clear it, and it became the most pronounced feature.
This specific car is a 1982 model with 99820 kms indicated from new. It is finished in Rosso Alfa (Alfa Red) with the classic Alfa cheque interior which is typical of early 80s Alfas. It is a very special numbered car, number 007/100 of the last 100 GTV-6s that were imported from Italy. The car has been restored to a phenomenal standard, including an engine rebuild and upgrade to 2,8L. It has done 27000kms since restoration and is still like new! Italian design, a glorious V6 engine and a whole lot of style is what this car is all about!
