1989 Porsche 944 Turbo
The Porsche 944 was a German sportscar produced from 1982 to 1991. It was a front-engine, rear wheel drive car based on the 924 platform. Over 163 000 cars were produced making it the most successful car in Porsche’s history until the introductions of the Boxster and 997 Carrera.
For the 1986 model year Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, internally known as the 951 for LHD cars and 952 for RHD cars. The turbocharged and intercooled engine generated 162 kW at 6000 rpm. Car and Driver magazine tested the car in 1987 and achieved a zero to 100 km/h time of 5,9 seconds!
The 944 Turbo was the first Porsche production car utilising a ceramic port liner to retain exhaust gas temperature. It featured new forged pistons and several other changes, such as improved aerodynamics with a new integrated front bumper. The car also had a strengthened gearbox with a different final drive ratio, external oil coolers for engine-and transmission, a stiffer suspension and upgrade brakes, borrowed from the 911. More than 30 internal engine revisions were made to compensate for increased internal loads and heat.
This specific car is a 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo in RHD. It has done 160 000kms from new and has a good service history. The car presents well and is mechanically sound. It is finished in Baltic Blue Metallic with black interior. This car is not perfect but, it is a nice example of a 944 Turbo. It drives beautifully and presents well!
