2001 Toyota MR2

The Toyota MR2 is a two-seat, mid engined, rear-wheel-drive car, manufactured and sold by Toyota over three generations, from 1984 to 2007.

The third generation MR2 was called the W30 and was available from 2000 to 2007. The 1.8L, 16V twin overhead cam engine was mid mounted. It produced 103 kW and drove the rear wheels, obtaining an almost perfect front/rear mass balance. The decision was also made to go with the open top configuration with a fabric soft top.   Luggage space was not a priority with the spare wheel taking up most of the front boot space, leaving enough space for a sandwich and a very small beverage. Two storage boxes behind the seats helped boost the total luggage space to 49L!

This specific car is a 2001 model with only 55 000kms on the car. It has had two owners from new and has been beautifully maintained. It comes with a full-service book, with supporting documentation and spare keys and is in near perfect condition.

The MR2 is often referred to as a starter classic, and I cannot agree more with the name! This little car has the handling characteristics you would expect from a roadster, a perky and reliable Toyota engine and a slick 5-speed manual gearbox. It is also semi-rare; not many came to South Africa and seeing one on the road does not happen often.
